The fool was wonderful.......thanks to all the good cooks in the family. And a special thank-you to the man in red.......I'm sure the kids really enjoyed our special guest. The gift exchange was awesome, now that we know how it it done, the next one will be even more FUN.

Family Reunion

Hi,
There are a few postings asking about a pot luck, just pot luck, or do we sign up for something?
It has been suggested to me that we do a SOUP THEME POT LUCK, and I think that sounds interesting. Hopefully there will be 3 to 5 kinds of soups (chili, cream base, broth base, etc.) Other items needed will be sandwich makings (meat, cheese, chicken salad, tuna salad) lettuce, tomato (?), breads and buns, crackers, maybe raw veggies, salads (lettuce greens, broccoli, something that will go good with soups). And, of course, a sampling of Christmas baking. It will be like the pick two at Panera........ONLY BETTER!!!!
If this sounds good to everyone, lets go with it.
Please post comments and what you think you would like to bring.
Also, for those of you that want to do a "white elephant gift exchange", bring a wrapped gift (or bagged) and we will have FUN with it.
Michelle please post the hours we have the hall, and hope to see you all there early for an enjoyable day with family.
A Happy and Safe Thanksgiving Holiday to all..........love you all.

Greetins

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to let everyone know what is going on in our lives. For those of you that didn't know, Ken and I were gone Sept 12-19 on vacation to Monreal, Canada. We took a day trip into Quebec City, and a day tour of Montreal. In Montreal we saw the Olympic Village, botantical garden, and churches!!!!!!!! 450 churches in Montreal, 75% of them are Roman Catholic. The area is very old and has lots of history - I was very surprised at how much history we were told about both cities and the country of Canada. It was all very interesing and beautiful. And we did lots of walking. The only times we didn't walk, was the tours, and the cab rides to and from the airport.
On Sunday, Oct 5, I spent the day at Kasson at a scrapbooking get-together. Michelle, Heather, Nancy, Barb and Kim were all there, so it was lots of fun. I decided to go so I could go something with the Montreal pictures........I didn't get all the pages done, but did get a good start.
On Monday it was back to work............
I'll get some pictures up for all to see in a few days........

Bob's Camping

Hello to all. Just a quick note to say HI to everyone and to let you know what is going on in Wyoming.
We went camping with some friends over the Labor Day weekend. The boys decided that it would be a good time to sight in their rifles on a few prairie dogs. Bob put the camper on his pickup, loaded up the four wheeler and we were on our way. We went up past Medicine Bow on some BLM land where the boys like to go antelope hunting. There is a nice open space where we can park the campers and trailers. They are a bunch of trails up there that we can take the four wheelers on to get back into the hills and hunt for prairie dogs. We found quite a few to test our aim out on. Bob even got to use his shooting sticks on some of them.
Some other friends of ours came by to have supper with us on Saturday night. They were out driving around hunting up a few prairie dogs and stopped by to see what we had found. They stayed for a while and we even got to roast some marshmallows over the camp fire.
We were going to stay until Monday morning, but a pretty nasty cold front came through on Sunday morning and it started raining so we packed up and came home that afternoon.
Hope everyone is well and I will send you more pictures etc as the hunting seasons progress.

hi from Bob

Hello All,
I just wanted you to know that Bob just got back from Alaska. He was invited to go by a friend of ours. Our friend was planning to go with his brother, but his brother couldn't go so he asked Bob if he would like to go with him. I had to force Bob to go (ha ha), but like I told him, it isn't often that you get the chance to go to Alaska for ten days and fish for salmon and halibut, so if you get invited you need to go.
They flew out of Denver on the 13th of June, flew into Anchorage, and then took a small plan on to Kenai. There they were met by our friend's son, and they stayed at his house for ten days. They went salmon fishing on the Kenai river and fished for halibut out of Anchor Point and Dry Creek.
They also drove over to Whittier Alaska and set shrimp pots and trolled on the ocean for halibut and salmon. They actually slept in a tent right off of Prince Edward Sound. There was still a lot of snow up there, so much for global warming.
They had a really good time and Bob wants to go back again next summer.
Hope you enjoy the pictures.
Julie

OOPS

Hi All
When I saw the pictures posted on the blog I realized that I had messed up and had not sent the right ones.I was going to send this one, it shows the diggers alot better than any of the other ones.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. It was about 55 degrees here yesterday. It was about the same today, but the wind was blowing pretty good so it didn't seemas nice. We are supposed to get some snow towards the middle of the week. We sure could use a good snowstorm. We haven't had much snow yet this year.
Hope everyone is well.

Easter Sunday

Hi to all
It was nice seening so many of you on Sun at Ann's house. Glad everyone made it home safe, with the weather being the way it way, seemed more like we should be having Christmas instead of Easter. Sure hope the weather turns around soon, and we start having more spring like temps and sun.
Barb, right now I do plan on going to open knitting on Sun, Ken and I have nothing else planned, so I am planning on going. If anyone else would like to join us knitting or crocheting, there is open knitting/crocheting at Quality Sewing on Sun, March 30 from 1 to 4pm. Both Marylynn and Judi should be there to help and answer questions if you need help or advice. I will plan on seeing you there Sun afternoon Barb.
I hope everyone has an nice week, and see some warm temps, robins, and other signs of spring!!!!!!!!!
love to all

Antelope

Okay, I finally went to WalMart and got these pictures downloaded onto a disc.
Bob went antelope hunting last fall, and this is what he brought home. He and some friends went up for a day hunt. They went up past Medicine Bow, and it is a pretty long drive, so they had to get up really really early.
He wants to get the head mounted, but unfortunately ruined the cape when he shot it. He is going to shoot another one just next year to get a good cape. You can see in one of the pictures that he shot it right behind the shoulder and for a full shoulder mount that is too far forward, so unless the taxidermist has a spare cape he is going to have to wait for a cape.
We hope that you all have a wonderful Easter.

SNOW

Hi everyone,
Just a quick hi. The kids and I just out to play in the snow and to shovel some. Some there seemed to be 2", some spots it seemed more like 4". It was wet and heavy, which I'm sure alot of you already know. But Ken does have a birthday on Sunday, and we always seem to have snow on or around his day. And, of course, we never have nice weather on Good Friday.
Had a hard time getting the kids to go out, they just wanted to stay in, but after we got out, I had a hard time getting them to come inside. Conrad kept wanting to walk in the deepest snow, so I had to keep pulling him out, he loves being outside, especially if he can have a "hat" on. For those of you that don't know Conrad very well, he LOVES to have a hat on. Wants to wear them inside and out!!!!!!!!!!
Hope you all have a great week-end, and a Happy Easter!!!!!
Plan on seeing some of you on Sunday
Love to all

Snow Goose

Hi All
Bob went snow goose hunting over the weekend and here is what he got. I have been trying to download some pictures of the antelope that he got last fall, but there seems to be something wrong with my memory card. I may have to take it to town and see if I can burn a disc from the memory.
Not much else going on out here. Just waiting for the weather to straighten out so we can start to get outside and have some fun.

Pics from Mexico

Here are some pictures from our trip to Mexico. I realized as I downloaded them off our camera that there aren't many of Shawn and I and none of all of us together. I am thinking there might be some on my parents camera. Oh well, the kids are what is important I guess anyways!

The view from our room!

The kids with one of the workers, Flor, from the Kids Club

Every night they had games for the kids and at the end, they always did the Chicken Dance.

Knitting

Hi everyone,
I can't believe there haven't been any posts lately..........I just read that a blog is a weg log, so come on in and do some logging!!!
Anyway I have decided that I am going to knit and do it all year long, and get good at it. So if anyone out there has any ideas on good projects...........or good patterns, let me know. And Barb, how was the knit out at MOA. I had heard about it, but didn't know what it was. Just found some pictures of it on the web. So what fun things did you do? Did you get any good ideas that you are willing to share?
Hope to hear from lots of you soon.

On a different note, Ken and I went to Cedar Radips to see his family on Sun. His mom is now living in a nursing home, and is having lots of problems with memory. It was really nice seeing and visiting with his sister and brother. I think we and his brother and wife are going to get together sometime in the next month or so, just to get together and really visit and have some fun away from home. We are thinking about meeting somewhere between here and Des Moines. Anyone have any good ideas/suggestions of a fun place?
Have a great day..............love to all

but our mattress don't hold air no more

but lo the weather is turning nasty
so we have to get home real fasty

the trip was short, but we had fun
cause being together is # 1

so this is our shout out from Chicago
and now is the time to stop, we gotta go

Mexico

Mexico We just got back from a family trip to Mexico. My parents go every year and were kind enough to take us with them this year. So, we packed everyone up and got on the plane for a 4 hour ride. Anyone that has a 3 (almost 4) year old will be able to sympathize with us. Jordyn was so excited that it was her first time on a plane, so she was full of questions and very hyper. We landed in Mexico about 1:30 and headed to the resort. That first night, Alex woke up with an ear that was hurting really bad. We figured he had an ear infection, so we went to the pharmacy and bought some antibiotics. By Monday he was feeling better and able to have some fun. Sunday was Jordyn's 4th Birthday, so it was special that she could spend it in Mexico. Each day the kids went to the Kids Club that was offered at the resort. They both had a lot of fun playing with other kids. While they were at the Kids Club, Shawn and I were able to lay on the beach with a drink and read or do whatever we wanted. It was nice to be able to just relax and we both were able to read several books while we were there. So, Friday night comes and we are getting ready to leave the next day. That night, about 1:30 AM, Alex woke up throwing up. Every hour, him and I were in the bathroom. Poor guy! Gpa made yet another trip to the pharmacy to get more meds. By the time we went to the airport, he was feeling a little better, but very tired. We got him drugged up for the flight home and he was able to sleep a lot of the time. We landed Saturday night at 7PM, got through Customs with all our baggage by 7:30. That was really good timing! So, we are all back and healthy and back to the grind. I will add some pictures when I get them off the camera.

Sharon's news

Hi everyone!
Talked to Sharon tonight and she would like everyone to know her family will be growing more!! I think we all heard from Jodi and Daniel that they are expecting a baby in July - around the middle. David and Jenny have also announced their family will increase in early September!! Sharon said it was ok if I spilled the beans and let you know. Jennifer and Richard got a new computer at home around Christmas time, so hopefully she will let us know their email address and put news on the blog from Moorhead. Hope to see a bunch of you at Deans birthday party.
