Finished a couple projects

I did the finish work on a couple projects.  The first one is a baby blanket and matching burp cloth.   A friend is expecting her first grandchild in Dec - a girl.   We were showed these mitered corner blankets on the sizzlin summer shop hop, so, of course, that means I have to try to make one or more.

This picture shows the mitered corner.

This is the finished 3-d pinwheel table runner.  I was trying to decide how to quilt it -  I was going to just stitch in the ditch around a couple of the blocks, Ken suggested I stipple the runner, so the pinwheels would stand out more.   I do like how it turned out.

A little easier to see the quilting and the pinwheel.  I also put a leaf button in the middle of each pinwheel.

Our Tuesday Nite Date

Roger and Ann had a Tuesday night date, and I guess you could say Ken and I had one too.  We went to the Steele County Fair in Owatonna.  The only thing is we saw Spencer, Michelle, Dakota, Connor, Shawn, Alex and Jordyn there.   We spent part of the time walking around with Spencer, Michelle & kids.   Shawn and kids were looking at the exhibits while Dakota and Connor did rides.  We left somewhat early - Shawn let the kids do rides after we left.  So I only got pictures of Kota and Connor enjoying the rides.  We usually try to go opening night since the rides are only .96 cents - that makes it affordable to let the kids do a couple rides.

We usually enjoy the exhibits, they seem to have more than Olmsted County in Rochester.

late birthday night out

Last night Roger and I went out for my birthday (only 2 weeks after).  First we went to Country Buffet for supper as I got a free meal - only had to pay for Roger's, good deal.  Then to the movie, The Odd Life of Timothy Green.  This too was free as I won the tickets from CW Rochester - the tv station.  Cheap night out and we enjoyed both the meal and the movie.  The movie is good but alittle sad and unusual.  Most kids would probably not follow and enjoy it but it is a good movie for adults.  I won't say more about it so I don't spoil it for anyone if they go to see it!
Love to all

Cute Kids

Dakota posing.

Mr Henry sitting in his high chair for the first time.  Sorry about the red eyes - didn't realize it soon enough.  These are old pictures from July.  We haven't seen him since the first of July.

Another one of Henry - you can see his pretty eyes in this one.

Connor busy drinking water waiting for Dakota's t-ball game to start.

Conner - saying "take my picture"  then "let me see it"

I have more cute kids - just don't have pictures of them to post right now, I'll have to start taking my camera along again.  For some reason I haven't had the camera with me lately.

And, atleast, I think they are "cute kids".

Sewing Projects

This is a 3-d pinwheel table runner.  In July when we did the sizzlin summer shop hop, I found this pattern at one of the quilt shops.  It will be great for fall - just need to quilt and bind it.  It was a quick sew, so will probably be making more of them.   The next one will be using Christmas fabrics.

I found this cheater panel in a quilt shop last spring on the way home from Chicago.  We stopped and checked out a new quilt shop.  I liked this panel since the number words are in english and spanish.  One on the families in child care speak Spanish.   So this will probably be a gift.  It is crib sized.

I started this quilt quite awhile ago, and have had the top done since early spring.   A few days ago, I decided it was time to quilt and finish it.  The fabric line used is Dilly Dally by Moda.   For that reason alone I decided it would be a great quilt for Dakota.  I wanted to bind it in black, but didn't have enought, so used two different pink prints that are in the quilt - didn't have enought of either one, so just used both.  It should fit on her twin bed nicely.

A table runner that who knows when it was started - just found it among the sewing items and decided to get it finished.  It didn't take long once I started.   I will have to try harder to get items finished in a more timely fashion.

Now that I have these items finished I can start thinking of new projects to have availbable for craft days........ya!!!!

Green Beans

I froze the green beans when Ken picked last week.   We had a big pan of fresh green beans for lunch.   Fresh beans were really good.  The rest I had to wash, steam then bag for the freezer.

Canning

Hi everyone,
Here I am on the family blog - completely new look from what I'm used to.  Just wanted to let all of you know that Gabby, Ken, Nancy and the 2 kids, Ann and Roger all went out yesterday and picked green beans from a farmer that Gabby knows.  Guess all of them got what they wanted, and so off they went to do some freezing/canning of the green beans.

I canned 14 quarts for myself and another 14 pints for Kim.  Next week I will be getting peaches from Youth for Christ over at the Methodist Church on North Broadway and so will then be spending some time doing those also.  Maybe while I'm doing that, I can make some peach jam.  Yummmmmm!!

Not much else for now, so will sign off.  Have a great weekend.
