Happy Summer!!!!

Hello Hayes Family,
Hope this finds everyone well and enjoying the remainder of summer. We have enjoyed the beautiful weather at the lake and starting to gear up for the school year. I know its been awhile since you've seen or heard from us...this past year has been a "flood-filled" emotional rollercoaster for us.
Last summer we were so pleasantly surprised and excited to find out we were pregnant with Bo! Another flood of emotions came in the fall - there's not a day that goes by we don't think of BoDean and miss him dearly!
After the holidays we learned our neighborhood became an "unsafe living area" due to the flooding and the change in the direction of the Red River. We had three months to find a new place to call home and move. We purchased a new rambler in a cul-de-sac by the golf course; needless to say, nowhere near the river! Brianna and Brook love their big bedrooms with walk-in closets and built-in desks. Rich was happy with the triple stall garage and the opportunity tobuy a John Deere riding mower for the big yard.
I thought the six bedrooms would give us extra space, but we are thrilled to announce we are going to fill them soon!
Just a few weeks ago, at our 21 week ultrasound we found out we are pregnant with twins!! We are truly blessed and can't wait to meet our two little miracles, due in November!
So another flood of emotions begin...we are extremely excited, just nervous too, but it is my goal to start the school year and then take one day at a time!
I hope you understand why we were cautious in sharing our news until we were further along. Please keep us in your prayers!!!
Thinking of all of you,The Carneys

Another Road Trip

Ken and I decided to take another road trip on Friday, decided it would be too warm to do much yard work. And today it is too warm also, so maybe that much need yard work will get done over Labor Day week end. We left Friday am about 8 and drove northwest thru the cities. We stopped at a couple quilt shops just to see what they were like, then onto the winery that Ken wanted to visit. Very nice winery, enjoyed the sampling, went for a walk about the property, and then sat down to listen to some great live music and singing. All in all, a very nice day.
Now we still have the week end to enjoy.

Everyday News

Hi to all,
I hope you are enjoying this cooler weather!!! I know that I am.
Ken and I took a little road trip on Sunday. We started at Wine Haven in Chisago City, then onto St Croix Winery in Stillwater. Both wineries were having special week ends, with activies, free tasting and live music. We enjoyed them both. And then to even things out a little we made a stop at a quilt shop in Stillwater. Fun day for both of us.
Last night (Tuesday) we went to Owatonna for the Steele County Free fair with Michelle and children. Spencer is gone and Michelle asked if we could help out, we had Connor and she enjoyed rides with the older two. Also stopped and said hi to Gabby.
We are both taking Fri off this week. We are hoping for a nice day so we be outside and get some yard work done. We haven't done much the last couple weeks with the heat.

The Peters week end...........

Ken and I took Friday off and headed to the Cities to do the Metro area shop hop. We took our time and stopped at other places also. We started in Stillwater, very nice quilt shop, and they are open on Sundays. Then onto White Bear Lake, two quilt shops there, just a block apart. Between the two shops was a farmers market, so we had to walk thru it and get a couple things, and also stopped at a couple other shops. We would like to go back there and see more shops, they looked very interesting. Then up to Chisago City to visit Wine Haven. From there down I 35 to mid town Minneapolis to Glad Creations, I 35 had lots of slow areas with road work, etc. But it was worth it.......I won a door prize there.....a flannel bundle of fat quarters. Then to Fat Quarter and met up with Kim, after shopping, we went to see Kim and Erick's home. Thanks for the tour Kim, very nice home. Then onto Blue Bamboo just before they closed. Another Winery stop, not inpressed with it. Beautiful area, but didn't like the wines. We found a hotel in Waconia and stayed the night. Our hotel room was upgraded to a king room with fireplace and whirlpool, very nice room. Saturday morning found us at Heavenly Patchwork Quilt Shop......the owner is the mom of Sherry Fall (Sherry has This & That pattern business). That was lots of fun.....since I like the the patterns, and it is a very nice shop.....I would like to visit it again. After that it was Chanhassen, Shakopee, Eagan, Apple Valley and Rosemount. In between those we made a stop at Ikea...(don't go on Saturday afternoon, very busy!!!).
As we were leaving Rosemount, Shawn called to see where we were, he was picking Alex up from the scout camp. When we got home, Shawn and Alex were waiting for us, and we had a nice visit. Both Shawn and Alex had lots to tell about their weeks at the Jamboree. It sounds like they both had a good time. Alex is talking about going back in 3 years!!
Sunday was just a normal Sunday......church in the morning, a very short bike ride (it was hot out), and some sewing in the afternoon.

Ann's news

Hello everyone
Friday night Roger and I went to the Freeborn County Fair to see George Jones. He is now 81, I think. He had a nice show but allergies were bothering him and you could tell he is getting up there in age. Surprising that he still goes on tours.
Yesterday, I spent the day at Crystal's helping her with a rummage sale. She did pretty good, enough to pay for getting the air conditioner fixed in the house. She was happy for that. Next year, we will probably plan on doing the sale Friday and Saturday when Riceville has there celebration instead of just Saturday. She thought she saw alot more people in town on Friday.
Matthew and Mark's families spent yesterday at Valleyfair. Liz and Mark both work at Valley Cheese. Valley Cheese give their employees the tickets and such instead of a company picnic in the area.
Hope everyon has a good week - I have this week off - yeah!!

Ann's news

While I had a good time shop hopping and enjoying my birthday with Barb, Linda, Mary and Ken last weekend, Liz and Matthew had some sad news. Liz's brother in law was involved in an accident last Friday that took his life. If I understand it correctly, he was digging a trench when the ground gave way causing a large water tank to fall on him breaking his neck and crushing him. Liz's sister is left with 2 young daughters. Some of you have met her sister and niece in Lanesboro at the farmers market.
Hope you are all doing well and enjoying your week.

Lee Greenwood

We camped at Christian Ironwood Springs Ranch this past weekend and had an awesome time. They offered tons of activities all weekend! Concerts Friday night and a military tribute saturday afternoon, hog feast for dinner, and another concert performance Saturday evening after tethered balloon rides.

Spencer and Zach asked Lee Greenwood to sign the caps that they were wearing that day. It was pretty neat listening to his stories before and after he sang a few songs.
