BB Tourney in Omaha

Well, we took to the road last weekend to take a "short" drive to Omaha for a BB tourney for Alex's traveling team. The tourney is a huge deal down there as it is held at the same time as the College World Series. Unfortunately we were not able to go to a game as our schedule didn't have time, but we were able to go watch the University of Southern Mississippi practice. That was a great experience. After batting practice, the team let the boys go on the field and catch balls in the outfield for them. I have posted a pic of that along with one of Shawn "schmoozing" the coaches. He was down talking to the principal of the HS that the practice was held at when the team got there. So, he got to talk to some of the managers and such of the USM team.

The boys played some great games. We won our first game and then lost the last 3. These teams that we played were from TX, CO, SD, and IL and boy could they play! Their kids were twice our size and they had some great talent. Of course, they are able to pick and choose from hundres of kids for their teams and we are from the small school of Kasson-Mantorville! Over all, it was a fun trip.

Before we left, Shawn and Alex went out and decorate the van, so that is the other picture.

FAMILY REUNION AT LANESBORO

It sounds like the family (atleast those that responded) would like to have the family get together at Lanesboro this year. It is a city park right on main street so hopefully everyone will be able to find it. If someone has better directions, please post them. We will start gathering mid morning for a noon meal, them hopefully a fun filled afternoon. At posted there is fishing there, but you do NEED a trout stamp. Please bring a dish or two to pass. I hopefully will be bring potato salad or a macaroni salad and a pan of bars. If there are any questions out there please call someone who knows!!!!!!!!! No just post them and hopefully we will be able to get the answer to you, or you can call someone too.
Please pass all info to family members that do not read the blog or have internet.
Also, please no alcohol beverages, we want this to be a safe family outing.
See you all next week end......oh, and lets all hope and pray for nice weather.

Family reunion

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that Lanesboro sounds good to me. It is pretty down there, so both Gabby and I are okay with that.

We just got back from a Trapping Convention in Mena, Arkansas and it was really nice, but hot! Humidity one day was awful. One of the other person and I went to the Crater of Diamonds State Park to dig for diamonds, but needless to say, we did not find any - just some pretty rocks, which I did bring home - mostly jasper. I did have one agate rock and volcanic rocks.

Met some very nice wives to the husbands who trap, and we went to a state park called "Queen Willamina State Park for lunch as they have quite a nice restaurant and the view was spectacular. I would put a few pictures on, but don't know how to get them here, so maybe in the future will get them on.

FAMILY REUNION

Just a reminder that the family reunion is coming up fast.........we need your input NOW. We do have the Oronoco Estates hall reserved, if needed. But someone has suggested we look into Lanesboro city park. If you have any info on the park, please let us know. We need to know if the park is being used for a city function that day....June 27, 2009. We are pretty sure it is a first come, first serve basis, so we need a volunteer to be there early, or to camp there overnite on Friday night. Also need to know if there are outlets available to use.
As soon as we confirm a location.....we will post it.
As far as food goes..... it will be a pot luck for salads, chips, desserts. There will be no grilling.....if someone wants to make a crock pot of sloppy joes, or a crockpot of hot dog, please post it, so we know what kind of buns to have. Otherwise there will be tuna salad, chicken salad type sandwiches.
Please no alcoholic beverages........this is a family affair and there will be lots of children there.
WE NEED YOUR INPUT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Bob,
just wanted to know if there is a chance that you may be able to make the reunion this year?

Zoo Walk

Hi Everyone,
Ken and I went to Chicago this past week end (June 6 & 7) to see Brian and Sarah. Brian had called a couple weeks ago and wanted us to sign up for the zoo walk. He lives near the Lincoln Park Zoo and a big plus is that it is a free zoo, but also a very nice zoo. This was a big fundraiser for the zoo. On Sun morning we went for a 3 mile/5k walk, there was also a 10 k run and a 5k run. It rained a little, but wasn't bad at all, we weren't even wet at the end of the walk. Attached are pictures of Brian and Sarah, and Ken and I at the start of the walk. We didn't spend alot of time at the zoo, but walked thru part of it. Brian and Sarah moved the end of April, so now they live even closer to the zoo, so it will probably be something we do whenever we visit.
Just a block the other direction is the Oz Park. And on Saturday there was a chalk festival at the Oz Park. Some of the chalk drawings were awesome.......it's to bad it rained later on Sat, so alot of them got washed away. That was a big fundraiser for Art Therapy Connection.
