Alex's first hight school hockey game

Ken and I went to Alex's first high school hockey game today.   He played in the JV game today.

We saw several scenes like this - with alot of players in front of the nets.

Alex, this is now where I want to see your number.....Alex is number "28" and this is the penalty clock.   Not a place to see his number.

Game over...........

but a happy ending.  When Ken and I got to the arena (on time, but the game started 10 minutes early) the score was guest 3, home 0, not a good way to start a game.   But the team started scoring goals, and soon tied the game, went ahead, guest tied, home scored, guest scored, then home scored - no score from guest - home scored again.  Finally game over and home team won.   Good game.

Zach was scheduled to have his first game today also, but his got cancelled, so have to wait a few more days to see him play.

Festival of Trees

Ken and I went to the Festival of Trees on Friday afternoon.   There were two military decorated trees - so thought I would include one here.  Thanks Dale and Spencer for what you have done to let freedom ring!!

Just some really pretty trees.

The woodcarvers tree - this tree always atracts alot of attenion.  The tree has all hand carved ornaments on it.  Sitting on a table near the tree is "Old Mother's Hubbard"  shoe - it was fantastic.  This year's theme was nursery rhymes.  Next to the shoe is Peter, Peter, pumkin eater.......

A couple more views of some of the trees..........it's a great fund raiser...........very well attended.   It is a fund raiser for the Hiawatha Home in Rochester.   The Festival of Trees runs from Wed before Thanksgiving to Sunday afternoon.

The Peters Family

Papa Ken and G'ma Mary with the grandkids (missing Henry), but it's great to get together with this bunch.  Alex and Zach look so happy to be included - don't they?

Nancy and the baby bump!!!

Shawn's family - doesn't Alex look great with that smile?  I don't know why he can't smile once in awhile when the camera is on him.  But a nice picture anyway.

Michelle and Spencer.  Spencer wasn't with us last year for Thanksgiving - it was awesome that he was with us this year.  Missed you last year, Spencer.

and Miss Dakota with her new glasses.

A Thankful Day

Thanksgiving  or Christmas?  Yes, those are Christmas ornaments - we are making wreaths.   And yes, we were sitting outside!  Wasn't the weather awesome on Thanksgiving Day?

Wonder what Zach and Uncle Gabby was talking about?

Eating!!!   Lots of good food and plenty of it.   Thankful for all the good cooks in the family.   It was great to see everyone.

The kids had a great time climbing after eating.  They looked like monkeys out there - climbing and more climbing!!!

Good food, good conversation, good weather - wow, what else could we have asked for.     A very Thankful Day!!!!

Idea's for 2013

Hi everyone
Well, Thanksgiving is over and Christmas will be here soon.  What a difference in temps from yesterday to today!  Doesn't look like anyone is be getting together as a large group for Christmas this year.  So lets hear ideas on a summer reunion for 2013.  Do we want to keep the last Saturday in June or something different?   Bob and Julie do you have any plans for the summer that could include Minnesota?  Does the Hayes family in Moorhead have any plans for visiting the SE corner?  I am willing to have a reunion any weekend that works out for the majority or ones who live further away.
Does anyone else have plans that they want to share or ideas as to what weekend or a place that they would like to try?  Maybe  Stewartville again , or stay with Lanesboro, try a state park by LeRoy, Whitewater Park. Carly State Park, Forestville State Park?  We would have to check with state parks to see if there are big plans.  I prefer to find something free.  If anyone knows of a nice park with good bathrooms let's hear from you!  If we want to make the last Saturday of June and Lanesboro the weekend and place that is fine with me too.  Just thought maybe I would put it out there for discussion.

Double digits

Last night after sending the post off, I looked at the date and realized that Zachary is only 1 month away from having double digits as his age.   Zach, how did you get so old - so fast?    Just last year I was holding you and you were a baby!!!!

Good day?

Hi everyone,

Hope everyone is having a good day.   Mine has been pretty easy for a change.   Only had 4 children here for most of the day.  The next couple days should be pretty easy also, and then, on Friday - look out - almost everyone will be back.   Then I will really be looking forward to Sat and Sun.

I have spent part of my evening sewing.   I have to make one, and possibly two new Christmas stockings this year.  I finished one of them tonight, and have a good start on the second - will just have to wait and see if I have to finish it quick and have it ready.

I also got the quilting done on a new 3-d pinwheel table runner.  (I made the table runner last week end at the retreat.)  Now I have to get the binding on it.  It would be nice if I got it finished before the holidays - since it is Christmas fabrics.

Ken and I spent last week end in Iowa visiting his sister and brother.   It was a nice week end, and was good to see some of the family.  We met up about noon on Saturday, visited and spent Saturday night at the hotel, had breakfast with everyone before we all left and headed home.  We drove part of the way home in rain - not too bad, just enought to have the wipers on.

What is new with everyone?   Hope to see alot of you next Thursday - it's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is already next week.

Take care - love to all  -   Mary

A busy, awesome, wonderful week-end

Ann, Linda and I spent the week end at a quilting retreat held at Assisi Heights.   I had an awesome, wonderful week end (except for the sore, tight muscle in my left  leg, which meant I limped alot, and wasn't able to go on the tour Sat evening)
and I hope Linda and Ann had a great week end also.

As you can see Ann and Linda are busy sewing and cutting.

Also at Assisi Heights this week end was the quilt, craft show, so we went up a floor and wondered around the quilts, booths, and exhibits that were there.   I had to take a picture of the gingerbread house (Assisi in gingerbread).  It was really cool.

Linda busy on the floor, laying out a project she was working on.

Ann at her machine, sewing away.  We had to remind Ann a couple times why she was there.   She liked to wonder off and visit and see what everyone was doing - part of the fun - visiting and seeing what everyone was working on.  We just had to give her a rough time about it.

On Sunday right after Mass, and lunch, the sisters come down to the room we are in and want a show and tell.   Here is Linda showing the table mat she made.   I would like to take it away from her - the colors are beautiful!!!  It really looks awesome sis.

Ann showing some of the blocks she was working on.   These blocks are really pretty also.  Unfortunately, Ann had a little trouble and didn't get as much done as she had hoped to.   But she is off to a great start.   She also was making some other blocks that she didn't show.
As for me, I got a couple tops sewn together, but don't have any pictures of what I did.
Thanks for sharing a great week-end with me.
Mary
