Gabby's Home

Hi,
We have now arrived back home and Gabby is resting in the t.v. room. His procedure was about 90% successful, however the 1 beep that was left would have been too difficult to do and would have caused more problems. He will need to go back in 2 weeks for a stress and breathing test. After that, he will need to go back in 3-4 months to meet with the doctor again.

Fun Pictures

Conrad had a birthday on Saturday, Aug 27. He had a party at Quarry Hill for all his little friends - Ken and I were able to tag along since we took Michelle's children to it. A couple fun pictures of some of the kids..
Nancy made cupcakes........don't you just love the little frogs?
Connor loved looking at the fish tanks.
All the kids loved to hold and pet the turtle.

Brian & Sarah's visit

Brian and Sarah (and the girls) were in Rochester Aug 19 - 21. Mostly they wanted to visit Gold Rush Days, but they did lots of other things also. It was a very busy week-end. On Saturday we drove to Maple Grove to pick something up, then a stop and visit in Northfield. They were to alot of old haunts - like Blue Monday for a mocha - and, of course, a walk around the campus of St. Olaf. When we got back to Rochester Saturday afternoon, Michelle and the children stopped for a short visit, then it was out to the Boy Scout camp to have supper with Shawn and Alex.
Brian had to "help" Alex while at the camp. A good picture of Brian and Alex - any picture that Alex looks at the camera with a smile is a good picture.

Visit at Mary & Ken's

Last night Gabby and I went over to Ken and Mary's for a couple of hours and visited with Brian and Sarah as they were in town to attend the Oronoco Gold Rush. Sure was nice to see them and their dogs!

President

How exciting to have the President in southeast Minnesota on Monday! I did not wait in Preston long enough to see the motorcade pass... he was late. He did not stop at all in Preston anyway. He stood in the doorway of the bus and waved to all the people waiting in Harmony and made a stop in ...CANTON to talk to children that were waiting for him. Another co worker who lives on the state line road was waiting for him when he entered Iowa and he stood in the doorway and waved to them also. Ryan saw them pass over 63 when he was at work. We had alot of excited people at work yesterday who had seen the President in person now, it is a once in a life time event for most of us.

Shop Hop

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to say that Gabby, Linda and I finished the Minnesota Shop Hop and we received our fabric stash - Gabby even had a bundle. I think he rather enjoyed giving all the women a hard time in the stores, and wouldn't you know it, the very last store we were in had military fabric which he purchased to make a bag to carry his information in to meetings. I need to get started on that sometime next week.

Also, today I was over to Mary's and she helped me to figure out how to make a pillow case. All I need to do now is finish the final seam and then Gabby will have 2 pillow cases for the deer cabin!

That's all for now.

`Zachary

Zachary went to St Mary's Hospital Wednesday morning - check in time 9;30 - to have a minor outpatient procedure done. He was finally called to the back to be prepped about 2pm (remember he has not eaten since the night before - Michelle told him since he could not eat, she wouldn't either). What should have been a short procedure turned into a 4 plus hour visit to the operating room, and 2 night stay in the hospital.
Dakota and Connor were excited about going up to see him Thursday night - to see him and Mom.
You can see the incision on his neck...no stitches on the outside, just glued. But he does have a couple stitches in his throat.
He got a very special phone call on Thursday also, his dad called to see how he was feeling. It was the first time Spencer has called since he got to Kuwait.
Hopefully he will have a good Friday, and will be able to go home sometime Friday afternoon/evening. Depends of how Friday am goes.

Carl and Virginia

Happy Anniversary!!!!!!!!!
How many years???
love from everyone

Weekend

I put a comment under Barb's last posting and then thought that maybe not everyone reads them. Sooo.. I'll do my own comment!
Roger and I started the MN shop hop on Friday since I had the day off, then we finished it yesterday (Sunday). I thought it would be fun to do it with the "group" like last year but it didn't seem that would work this year. I have this week off and the next two weekends we have family reunions on Rogers side. It worked having Roger with for all the shops as he also qualified to earn the 7 yard bundle of free fabric too! One gal asked me in Montgomery how that worked.
Hoping to get some cleaning, canning, and sewing done this week while I am home - it may be good to go back to work next week! Hope I actually accomplish something this week.
Roger is doing a good job keeping the garden watered with all the hot weather we have had. We did not get the extreme rain that Rochestere received twice but we have plenty in our rain barrels. The zucchini and summer squash have started, the tomatoes are starting to ripen, and the cucumbers are setting on.
Thank you to all those who called or emailed birthday wishes. It was a good weekend.
