I really don't thing we need to have "news" to post on the blog. The blog is just a way of see what everyone (the family) is doing day to day. So thinking that way........Ken and I made 2 batches of freezer raspberry jam Wed night. Nancy and Conrad picked raspberries at the neighbors house and left them here for jam. Later Ken and I picked more, so we had enought for 2 batches and I have 10 jars of assorted sizes to enjoy this winter.
Have a great day

I sure wish Erick and I could be that disciplined in the raspberries. We go out every morning - sometimes twice a day - and clean off the branches. Most of the time we eat them as we pick - needless to say we are lucky if they survive the day.

That's ok Kim, part of the pleasure of having fresh fruit is eating it RIGHT AWAY. We ate alot of the berries also, but were lucky enought to have some for jam.

After reading you made jam, figured I had better get some made too. I got 8 jars. I have just washed and frozen some of the berries but we have eaten alot as we pick too. Liz is glad she got some plants from me a few years ago and so am I, her kids love the berries as much as Nicholas does. Mark and Nicholas went out and picked alot on state land, he has a girl at work making the jam for him for a portion of the berries.

Well, I just went out to the freezer and counted and came up with 37 jars of freezer jam. This includes strawberry and raspberry. I was out trapping one morning next to a gravel road and a lady (Wendy) walked across the road and asked if I could remove a gopher or two from her yard. She just happened to have two raspberry patches and since she does not pick many, Barb and I have gone a couple of times to pick. One day, Wendy even gave me a coupe slices of raspberry pie. Today when we went to pick, Barb gave her a strawberry and raspberry freezer jam.
Wendy also dug some flowers and/or plants for Barb.
We may go somewhere next week to pick Blueberries.

There you go Kim, you can raid your Mom and Dads freezer for jam!! Where do you go for blueberries? My plants had a whole 2 berries this year. I planted them last year and one of the plants does not look so good.

Ann - I know of a couple places up by Grand Rapids to pick Blueberries but we will most likely run over by Maiden Rock, Wisconsin sometime next week. I see they were scheduled to open on July 8th. I need to call to find out the cost. Barb wants to try and make some Blueberry syrup.
Tomorrow she is making raspberry jelly.
