pattern drafting

This will probably only be of interst to Ann, Linda and Barb. With a little (truthfully - alot) of help from Ken this morning - this is what I have come up with so far. It is a little of the big size, but this is the biggest iron I have. I need to bind it, put handles on it and a closure in front.
But I didn't think it so too bad for a first effort - and it will protect the iron on sew days!!!!

It may have to be a sew day project!!!

Birthdays

since Ann put the birthday wishes on the blog and since today is our baby brother's special day I thought I would add this Trivia I came across for Alan's special day!!!!

Monthly
Trivia-
Today is Wednesday March 7th, the 67th day of 2012. There are 299
days remaining in this year, and as I researched the events that happened on
this day in history, I found out that it was on the 7th of March in 1933 that Charles
Darrow
devised the game of Monopoly.
The great Depression was in progress and he sold the game himself for two years
prior to it being mass-marketed by Parker Brothers in 1935 making Darrow a
millionaire. I guess he passed "GO" and never looked back!
And if you're in the mood for birthday cake, why not crash a birthday party
today. Willard Scott (Today Show weatherman & friend of centenarians) will be
celebrating his 78th birthday today and former Disney-head Michael
Eisner
, his 70th. And if today is also your birthday, here's a great big
"Happy Birthday to YOU" from StudioKat Designs, and if today is not your
birthday, you can celebrate the day anyway with a rousing game of Monopoly, or
if you're pressed for time, maybe just enjoy this little video of funny Willard
Scott clips
from 2009!

What's everyone up to?

Hi,
What's everyone up to? There hasn't been anything put on the blog lately. Ken and I went to the MN State fair on Labor Day and really enjoyed it. It's been alot of years since we were there, plus I think this is only the second or third time we've been there. A little rain here and there, but nothing too bad.
We spent most of the time checking out the buildings and seeing what was in all of them. I know we didn't make it around to everything. But since we both had to work Tuesday we didn't want to get too late either.

I will probably see some of you in Tomah on Saturday........everyone drive safe.

I'm having a party

Greetings to all you ladies,
I am having a Thirty One Party! It is Sept 28 @ 6:00pm (Tues. evening).
For those of you that don't know what Thirty One is.......it is a company that has handbags, totes, children items, stationery, etc. The name Thirty One comes from Proverbs 31, which describes the characteristics of a good woman....one who virtuous and business-minded, always taking care of her family.
I really like the products and want to share them with all of you. Michelle will be the presenter at the party, and would love to share all the neat items, and ideas with you. I really like the handbags, I am using one right now!
Please come and bring guests and share with info with anyone you think might be interested.
If you are interested in seeing a catalog, but can't come, please let me know and I will get one to you.
Plus if you like the products, Michelle will be happy to have a party with you being the hostess.....a good way to get hostess benefits.

Everyday News

Hi to all,
I hope you are enjoying this cooler weather!!! I know that I am.
Ken and I took a little road trip on Sunday. We started at Wine Haven in Chisago City, then onto St Croix Winery in Stillwater. Both wineries were having special week ends, with activies, free tasting and live music. We enjoyed them both. And then to even things out a little we made a stop at a quilt shop in Stillwater. Fun day for both of us.
Last night (Tuesday) we went to Owatonna for the Steele County Free fair with Michelle and children. Spencer is gone and Michelle asked if we could help out, we had Connor and she enjoyed rides with the older two. Also stopped and said hi to Gabby.
We are both taking Fri off this week. We are hoping for a nice day so we be outside and get some yard work done. We haven't done much the last couple weeks with the heat.

Neighbor's day

Ken and I just went next door to wish our neighbor, Clara, a happy birthday. She is 95 today, lives alone, and other than a little hard of hearing, she is doing awesome. She had to tell us about her day out with her family, they took her to lunch, also she had to make sure we saw all the flowers she got for her day. She won't go to a nursing home cause that's for old people!!! I only pray I'm doing as well on my 95th birthday. Her brother will be 98 later this month.

Hope you are all enjoying this nice weather.

Sewing get-together

Hi,
I was thinking that on April 24, Saturday, might be a good day to have a sewing day. If this day works for you, please let me know, and come up with some ideas of items you would like to sew. Do we all want to sew the same item or we each want to do our own thing? Does anyone have any good ideas for lunch? Pot-luck items, sandwich items, salads? I need some info on what everyone else would like to do. Also what would be a good time to start? 9 am? 10 am? earlier? later? I can have 4 to 5 sewing machines set up, so you can use one of mine if you don't want to bring yours. But I need to know who would like to use one of mine, or if we will just take turns with the machines so we don't have to re-tread depending on the fabrics we are using. Ideas, ideas, ideas........please put yours out so we can decide what we want to do.
Maybe this will force me to straighted and get organized......or maybe not.......you may be coming to my messing sewing area.

Greeting to all

Hi Everyone,
First off, why am I the only one posting? This is a family blog......we should all be posting little tid bits about what's happening in your life.
Yesterday was Ken's b'day, so when he got home from work we decided to go for a walk, since the weather was so nice. We walked to Baker's Square since Ken would get a free piece of birthday pie, from there we continued to Best Buy to buy a movie, then back home. It was a long walk, but we really enjoyed it.
It has been really nice getting outside in the mornings with the children, they eat and nap better. And it has been nice seeing the robins flying around, and the flowers starting to grow, we have seen some crocus......makes you really believe that spring is coming.
I have tried several times to plant crocus, but they never grow.......maybe that is why I like seeing them so much.
And last..........Happy Birthday to Roger!!!!!!!! Hope you have a really enjoyable day.

Hi....

Hi everyone,

If any of you were out today you saw for yourself what a beautiful day it was. Ken and I went for a drive this morning. We really enjoyed the beautiful frost on the trees, and it stayed almost all day. The last picture is of our street, I was standing in front of the house when I took it.
This evening we went to a couple's Mass at St Pius. It is a Mass for married couples and is very nice....the last couple years Ken and I have gone with Tim and Nancy. Tonight Spencer and Michelle also joined us.......after Mass there is a reception in the hall.
I hope you all had a good Saturday...............

Easter Sunday

Hi to all
It was nice seening so many of you on Sun at Ann's house. Glad everyone made it home safe, with the weather being the way it way, seemed more like we should be having Christmas instead of Easter. Sure hope the weather turns around soon, and we start having more spring like temps and sun.
Barb, right now I do plan on going to open knitting on Sun, Ken and I have nothing else planned, so I am planning on going. If anyone else would like to join us knitting or crocheting, there is open knitting/crocheting at Quality Sewing on Sun, March 30 from 1 to 4pm. Both Marylynn and Judi should be there to help and answer questions if you need help or advice. I will plan on seeing you there Sun afternoon Barb.
I hope everyone has an nice week, and see some warm temps, robins, and other signs of spring!!!!!!!!!
love to all
