Family Reunion

Here's fishing at the family reunion in Lanesboro. I know my kids enjoyed it!

Monday, July 5

After the 4th of July, comes the 5th of July. And since this years 4th was a Sunday, the 5th was still a holiday for some people. Spencer and Michelle invited Ken and I to spend the day with them boating. We got on the lake about noon today, and enjoyed a sandwich while cuising around. Spencer dropped the anchor, so Zach and Dakota could do some fishing (Ken and I actually have a fishing license this year!!!) Spencer was the lucky one to get the first fish, but it got away right as the picture was taken(kinda of like the funnest home movies)........I pulled a small one on Ken's line. But when both Zach and Dakota got a bite at the same time, there some excitment. Zach got the biggest fish, he was so excited. A few more were caught, Michelle has pictures of the kids with the fish...maybe she will share those. But Ken and I took this picture at home, just to show you what we got....it is a 12" ruler laying at the top of the fish. The top fish is Zach's. Zach was looking like a real fisherman out there, he was having a ball throwing his line out.
Way to go Zach!!!

the Peters's Fourth of July

I hope everyone had a good and safe holiday. Ken and I started the day with going to church, after that we just putz around the house until mid afternoon. The we headed to Tim and Nancy's prairie to have a family holiday. Tim had the garage cleared out and Michelle (who was suppost to be in Stewartville for the day, but that got rained out) set up her easy-up tent, so we didn't mind the little shower that passed thru while we were eating. We had a big fire going, so s'mores was the dessert of the evening. Shawn was the master of fireworks. The children were telling Shawn to start shotting fireworks about 6....he started a little early with some teasers, and we finished about 10ish. We could see other fireworks in the distant and on the horizon, so unlike Rochester, some towns must have had fireworks. It was a wonderful time being all together (except for Brian and Sarah) for the holiday and much better than sitting with a hugh crowd of people waiting for the oohs and aahs.
Michelle and Nancy had cameras, so maybe they will post a couple pictures.

family reunion

Just a reminder to everyone that the family reunion is coming up. Please keep Saturday June 26th open. We will be meeting at Lanesboro park the same as last year. Alan has said he would be there really to save the shelter for us. Please bring something for the pot-luck - it would not be a Hayes gathering if we did not have lots of food!! Hope to see you all there.

Wyoming News

Well, the weather has finally settled down here. Of course we are under a tornado and severe thunderstorm warning until about eleven tonight, but oh well. Bob was finally able to go fishing last weekend. The weather cooperated, and it was a spectacular night on the water. He left here at about 3:00 p.m. and I think that he got home around 4:30 the next morning. I didn't go with this time, cuz I knew that the fishing would be slow, and besides I can't take those late nights any more. it just wipes me out, and I don't get anything done the next day. Here are a couple of pictures that I took before Bob started cleaning the fish.

On Memorial Day Gabby and I went to the memorial seervices at Soldiers Field. Since neither one of us had been there before, we decided to do this and must admit that it was very intersting and a very nice day for the services. We had plenty of time to walk around and look at all the names and pictures of the wall. Attached are a few pictures of different happenings of the services.
