OUR WEEKEND

Since we were able to get away early on Friday, Ken and I took off and spent the week end in Chicago with Brian and Sarah. Sarah is fixing dinner for us in the picture above. Thanks Sarah....it was delicious!!
Rain, rain, rain was the weather for the week end, so we spent alot of time indoors. Brian decided it was just the weather to do a puzzle. As you can see, everyone got in on the action. And the puzzle was finished a couple hours later.

Ken and Brian enjoying a cup of coffee at Starbucks! We did manage to get out a couple times. Most of our walk were dry, but we did get caught in the rain a couple times.

Sad News

Dale received word yesterday, March 3, that Uncle Shorty (Jerome Salber) passed away at home on March 3. Don't know what arrangements have been made yet, but will post as we find them out.
We are working on getting an address if anyone would like to send a card.

Greetings

Hello family,
Just a note to say Hi to everyone and see how everyone is doing. There is not much going on around here, just the usual, staying warm, working, trying to have free time to enjoy life. The big news in our house is that Ken and I got a new/different vehicle last week end. It is new to us, but previously owned. It is a blue Subaru Outback. So far, we really like it. Our other car is a 1995, so we thought we should start looking around and see what was out there, before something happened and we needed to buy right now. We still have Nancy's (which is now ours) black Toyota Echo, so if anyone knows of someone that might be interested in a manual trans. car (with a dent in the truck - thanks, Brian) we will be selling it sometime this spring. After we have time to clean it up and get it ready.
Other than that, we have traveled to New Ulm, and Redwood Falls (two different trips) to watch Alex's team play hockey in tournaments. Both tournaments were really good for the team....First Place in Redwood Falls, and Consolidation Champs in New Ulm.
And, of course, now is tax time, so we have been busy getting things ready to do taxes. That's always a fun thing to do!!!!!!! Not!!!!
Lets hear from the rest of you and let us know what you have been up to since Christmas........

HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY TO ALL ........
I hear he saw his shadow, so lets all enjoy 6 more weeks of winter.

Fire in Cresco

Linda received a phone call from Rosie this evening with an update on the fire. The bodies have not been fully identified yet. they are pretty sure it is the two boys, but don't know which is which. There will be a memorial service, but it has not been scheduled yet. When we find out the info we will post it. Bernie was 52, Alvie was 47. If anyone would like to contact one of their family members, this is the info we have.........Kenny's cell phone 563-547-1700.....Rosie's cell phone 563-419-9330. As of yet, there is not idea of what caused the fire. The wood stove was put in @ a month ago.......Kenny helped Bernie put in the stove.

Not a Good Start to the New Year

Well our new year has not started great but we are still thankful!! Matt and Liz had a fire at their place Sunday and lost the shop/barn but no one was injured. I have not heard yet how many of his tools, ect. in the shop are gone but are thankful it is only "stuff". There was a fireman that was limping but don't know if it happened down there, they were also at a fire Saturday where a shed was lost. Matt thinks the fire started from the wood stove, but the stove was still closed and burning correctly with the smoke going up the chimney when we were there - funny how you could tell that with all the smoke. Will post again when we know more. Hope you are all doing well and stay safe!

June, 2009 family reunion

Greetings,
It's time to start thinking about the summer family reunion........if anyone has an idea for location, please POST it. Linda has said that there is a hall/room at Oronoco Estates, no kitchen, but we can use crock pots, and there is a refrigerator, 2 bathroom, and a playground outside. We can plan on using one of the parks in Stewartville, Rochester, or anywhere else someone knows of a good park, the problem with the parks is, we usually can not reserve them, and you never know what the weather will be like. Of course, the price is usually right......no charge. This is being planned for the last Sat in June. So everyone get it marked on your calendar, and let those that don't check this blog/ or don't have computers/ or whatever reason they may not know about the date.
Lets start throwing out ideas, so we can make plans. I really liked the soup potluck idea for the Christmas Party, but that may not be as good in the summer. So what ideas does everyone have...........maybe make your own sub, with salads???????????
Let's hear your thoughts
Thanks
Mary
